  • Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Garzê (Garzê for short) locate at western area of Sichuan Province and the southeastern margin of Tibetan Plateau, with total area of 15.3 square kilometers. The whole prefecture has 18 counties, such as Kangting, Danba, Yajiang, Dawu, Xinlong, Dêgê, Baiyü, Sêrxü, Sêrtar, Litang, Batang, Xiangcheng, Daocheng, Dêrong. As the capital, Kangting is the center of political, economic and cultural centre of Garzê. It is well known of a Tibetan folk-song Kangting Love Song, and it is also called the hometown of love song. Garzê has rich resources of water and geothermal; has various rare animals, like panda, lesser panda, snub-nose monkey and white-lipped deer; and also has many rare Chinese traditional medicine.
    Kangting County is situated to the transition zone of Sichuan western margin mountainous region and Tibetan Platrau, its lying tilted from west to east. Haizi Mountain, Zheduo Mountain and Gongga Mountain are at the midpiece of Great Snow Mountains, which extend through Kangting from North to South and separate Kangting into two part: Eastern and Western. Eastern area is alpine valleys, and most peaks are higher than 5000 meters. "The first peak of Tianfu"-Gongga Mountain is located at the Southeast edge of the county, with the height 7556 meters and ravine height difference over 3500 meters. Western part are mound plateau and alpine valleys.
