Yunnan Province: Morel mushrooms cultivated under the forest are in good harvest

On March 5, in Qiaojia County, Yunnan Province of China, Morel mushroom growers are engaged with the picking work.

Qiaojia County used to be a poverty-stricken County, in order to promote farmers to end poverty and grow rich, the Government of Qiaojia County drives farmers to fully make use of local abundant forest resources and ecological superiority to broaden industrial area and realize the industrial development. 

“Through repeated investigation, we found that mushroom industry holds small investment, short period, high benefits as well as good acceptability,” said officials from the Government of Qiaojia County. “By now, we have done trial farming on 4 mushroom varieties, Morel mushroom, Oyster mushroom, King oyster mushroom and Stropharia rugosoannulata. For Morel mushroom, we grow it under the forest in form of wild imitation, Morels are in superior quality while the present market price on fresh form is at 240 CNY per kg.
