It has been 40 years since China’s reform and opening-up. In 1978, China’s mushroom output was merely 57,000 tons. By now, it has realized 700 times of rise, which is exclusive in the world.
However, nowadays, a number of mushroom enterprises which show high energy consumption, poor circulation and ill management are facing with the elimination. In 2018, poor mushroom marketing results in the falling of mushroom price and even the shutdown of mushroom enterprises in China.
Mushroom industry highlights five characteristics:
1. Mushroom farming does not compete with people for grain as it requires agricultural wastes, food residues and spawn, as well as suitable temperature and humidity.
2. Mushroom farming does not compete with grain for land. As known to all growers, mushrooms could be cultivated in caves, sheds where hold suitable temperature and humidity.
3. Mushroom farming does not need any fertilization, besides, residues produced by mushroom farming are also superior organic fertilizers.
4. Mushroom farming does not compete with agriculture for time as it is optional in time and season.
5. Mushroom farming is resource-saving, and it is especially water-saving compared with other agricultural industry, water consumption for growing each kg of mushroom is only 2-4 kg.
