Maitake mushroom cultivation creates an affluent future

Now, it is the peak production season of Maitake mushroom in Qingyuan County, Zhejiang Province of China.

“Price of mud-removed Maitake mushroom has gone up from 40 CNY to 100 CNY per kg,” said principal from one of Maitake mushroom bases in Zhongji Village, Huangtian Town of Qingyuan County.
Up to now, 13 households have been leaded to build standardized Maitake mushroom greenhouses that occupy 35,000 square meters. In the greenhouses, temperature, humidity, ventilation and illumination could be well controlled so as to guarantee the stable growth of Maitake mushroom and lift its quality.

Maitake mushroom is also known as Grifola frondosa and Hen of the woods since its frond-like growth resembles the feathers of a fluffed chicken. Maitake mushroom contains L-glutamate, a natural flavor-enhancer that provides umami, the savory rich flavor that excites receptor-specific nodes on your tongue. Besides, it contains compounds which might help fight tumors and stimulate the immune system. Experts believe that it can lower blood pressure, improve cholesterol levels and lower blood sugar levels.

Maitake is packed with forest flavor, earthy aroma, umami taste, firm texture and it is known for its ability to detoxify the body and energize the immune system.

In Zhongji Village, Maitake mushroom cultivation is the crucial resource for income elevation. Nowadays, there are above 40 households engaging in Maitake mushroom cultivation within the village, annual output capacity reaches over 800,000 logs, products are preferred by global consumers.
