(Reporter Hejia) Recently, mushroom growers working in the greenhouse of Kangnong Fruit and Vegetable Cooperative are busy picking Stropharia rugosoannulata at Xilan County, Heilongjiang Province of China. According to Li Donghui, chairman of the cooperative, now the planting area of Stropharia rugosoannulata has reached 30 mu after several years of development. Two flushes of the crops can be cultivated each year, and each flush can yield 5000kg per mu.Fresh mushrooms are delivered to large and medium-sized cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. In 2013,Li fixed his eyes on the discarded agricultural straw when he began choosing materials for mushroom growing.“Our country has introduced policies to encourage the reuse of straw and strengthen the air quality control.Almost each household has discarded straws which are not only cheap but also environmental. If we can make it into raw materials, lots of problems can be solved,”Li said, adding that this year, the cooperative cultivates Stropharia rugosoannulata in 30mu of area. The projected gross consumption amount on straws reaches about 150,000kg. Mu output on  Stropharia rugosoannulata hits 5500kg,and net income is over 20,000RMB per mu.All the mushrooms will be packed into boxes and delivered to Shanghai and other places around Haerbing City of Heilongjiang Province.
