Apple residues are of use on mushroom growing

2018-06-20 15:57:43

Apples contain abundant nutrients and they are a good substrate which highlights low cost, good taste, fat yield and considerable benefit for mushroom cultivation. In general, 100kg of fresh mushroom could be cultivated via 100kg of substrate, the detailed formula and technology are presented as follows:

1. Formula: Apple residues (Dry powder) 70%, sawdust 15%, wheat bran 13%, lime 2%

2. Technology:

METHOD: Firstly combine with apple residues, sawdust and wheat bran in accordance with the proportion, then sprinke with lime, adjust the PH Value to a range of 6-6.5 and Water Content to 60%-65% of gross compound’s weight. As apple residues show the acidity, low PH Value goes against to the growth of mycelia, therefore growers have to adjust it flexibly.

DISINFECTION AND INOCULATION: Heat up and disinfect on well-prepared substrate, maintain for 1-2 hours after the temperature reaches 100 degrees Celsius, then gradually cool down to 37 degrees Celsius or so and carry out the inoculation. After that, cover with plastic films and keep a 10-cm gap between films.

TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY: Remove disinfected and inoculated substrates into cultivation room and maintain the temperature at 20 degrees Celsius. In general, white mycelia occur on the surface after 7 days or so, and they fully spread to the whole substrate, and sporocarps form after another 10-15 days. At that time, be sure to uncover plastic films and guarantee 90% of relative air humidity in the room.

PICKING: Starting from the occurrence of sporocarps, growers could arrange the picking of the first flush of mushroom after a week. After that, dry substrates for 4 days under natural conditions before following up with second-flush cultivation. (Spraying water and covering films)
