8 Development Trends on China’s Mushroom Production

1. Multi-vatieties trend: Now, there are nearly 20 mushroom varieties being cultivated in large scale in China, and up to now, there is a wide range of new varieties which are successfully domesticated. As indicated by related experts, growers should positively promote new varieties which contain high cultivation values on the basis of stabilization of original mushroom production.
2. High-quality trend: At present, tendency of “Devoting exclusive attention to output while neglecting quality” still exists in China’s mushroom production, which results in lack of product competitiveness in international markets. In order to boost Chinese mushroom industry, the top priority is to improve and guarantee the quality of mushroom products.
3. New-material trend: Broadening the channels of substrate’s materials helps lower production costs, alter the situation on scanty raw materials of mushroom cultivation while maintaining the long-term prosperity of China’s musroom production. To see from the present situation, it is necessary for growers to promote mushroom production by various agricultural and industrial leftovers.
4. New-technology trend: New technology, technique, strain and materials are indispensable on cost reduction of mushroom production, and enhancement of quality of products.
5. High-efficiency trend: Vertical cultivation, intercropping between mushroom, rice and vegetable,  and multilayer production are adoptable.
6. Mechanized trend: Replacing manual operation with machines facilitates improving labor efficiency. Over the years, there has been more and more specialized machines practicable for mushroom production coming onto the market, flow line production could be realized provided that the combination is rational.
7. Specialized and large-scale trend: Growers could transform from subsidiary production to specialized production, and constantly expand production scale by mode of co-production development. Related experts believe that in conditional regions, growers could seize a kind of mushroom variety and enable it to become the famous, superior and characteristic product.
8. Deep processing trend: Deep-processing of mushroom products helps transform a great number of products and create considerable revenues for growers. Besides, it facilitates acquiring high value-added processing benefits, for example, production technology on a series of mushroom foods, beverages and tonics is not so complicated, and products are deeply preferred by customers.
