BIOLOGICAL ENVIRONMENT
1. Temperature and humidity: Morel mushroom is a kind of rare variety and it gains popularity by irregular surface and the appearance similarity of goat tripe. The variety falls under with Low-temperature and High-humidity Type, wild Morels could be foraged in rainy days during March-May and they also occasionally pop out during August to September.
In China, November-December could be arranged for Morel growing. Morel mushroom holds long growth period, in addition to low temperature, a larger temperature difference is required so as to stimulate the differentiation of mycelia. In general, temperature range on mycelia growth of Morel mushroom is at 21-24 degrees Celsius, temperature range on formation and growth of sporocarp is at 4-16 degrees Celsius while 65%-85% of relative air humidity is needed.
2. Illumination: Weak scattered light contributes to the growth of sporocarps, and be sure to avoid strong direct light.
3. Soil: Suitable PH Value on soil is at a range of 6.5-7.4, neutral or alkalescent soil fits for growth of Morel.
4. Air: Morel mushroom pertains to Aerobic type, fresh air is needed during the growth stage of mycelia and formation phase of ascocarps, good ventilation is also conductive to the robust growth of mycelia, differentiation and growth of ascocarps. In case of poor ventilation, malformed mushrooms which show long stipes and small caps are fatal, which affects the final quality and lowers the value of commodity. Mycelia of Pinnacle Morel endure with high concentration of carbon dioxide. When the concentration rises to 2.2%, growth of mycelia reaches the maximum. And Morels are hardly seen in dark places and over-thick leaf litter, sufficient oxygen undoubtedly promotes its growth.
