Zhejiang Province, China: Coverage scale of new Black fungus variety reaches above 90%

After years of cultivation, 916 Variety, superior Black fungus variety which is promoted in Longquan City, Zhejiang Province of China, has shown deterioration of variety, and emerged a series of issues such as large texture, partial-yellow color and low market competitiveness.
In order to solve the bottleneck that restricts the development of Black fungus in Longquan City, in 2013, 15 Black fungus varieties were introduced to the city while a triennial variety-comparison test was implemented. Ultimately, Black Mountain Variety which holds small figure, black color and strong stress-resistance was singled out.
On aspect of Black Mountain Variety, Longquan City promotes 20 million bags in 2016. Last year, coverage scale of the variety obtained 90% in the city, which drives above 30% of restorative growth of local Black fungus industry. 
“In recent years, climatic anomaly is quite evident while cloudy and rainy weather dominates Longquan City, under abnormal conditions, Black Mountain Variety represents good resistance to high temperature and rain, and it fits for the cultivation,” introduces staffs from Longquan Agricultural Bureau passionately.
