For many varieties, the water content in fungus sack decreases after passing the first flush of mushroom. When the water content is below 40%, the physiological activity would be in stopped stage, the nutrients in the substrate are hard to transform and it is hard to form primordium. Therefore, you could supplement moisture to the interior space of substrate. The main targeted varieties are Oyster mushroom, Enoki mushroom, Shiitake and Agrocybe cylindracea. The key skills are as follows:
1. Soaking: Soak fungus sacks in barrels or water tanks, press tightly with boards and stones and then combine with water. When the amount of water surpasses fungus sacks, maintain for 12-20 hours and it is feasible to guarantee that the water absorption of soaked fungus sacks is the same as previous weight.
2. Moisturize by applying water compensator: Water compensator is a kind of small pressurized water pump which holds the diameter of less than 1cm, it is composed of hollow shape cusp in fore-end and many iron pipes that carry many holes in the wall and the back-end is linked with plastic tube.
3. For some fungus sacks that fruit with a standing position, you could fill water into them when moisturizing and make sure that waterline is in above the amount of substrate. After soaking for 20 hours, pour out the excessive water, arrange them and the prepare the fruiting management.
