The control kernels on mushroom flies

Mushroom flies which are common and strongly destructive do terrible damage on Pleurotus geesteranus and other mushrooms.
1. Sympotom: In mushroom shelves, tiny flies eat and bite on spawns and sporocarps, which turns fungus sacks into a black and wet disease. Tiny mushroom flies eat from the stipe base of mushroom and leave countless holes. After getting contaminated by flies, the sporocarps show tardy growth, withered and rotten appearances.
2. Living habit: Most of mushroom flies inhabit on rotten fruits, garbage, food wastes and other unhealthy sites. What’s more, they hold complex food habits. Adult flies hold strong tendency to fermentation smell, they even reproduce for generations on fermentation materials in a year.
3. Control methods: 
A. Improve the indoor and outdoor sanitation of mushroom greenhouse, clean up the venue where fits for the breeding of mushroom flies.
B. After you stack up fungus sacks in high-temperature or remove them into greenhouse, be sure to conduct fermentation so as to kill the flies living in sacks and mushroom greenhouse.
C. If conditions permit, you could install screen windows and doors in mushroom greenhouse to prevent any flies.
D. Chemical control: It is workable to spray DDVP solution on mushroom shelves and greenhouse. For adult flies, be sure to trap and kill them by applying sugar-vinegar mixture. (Source: The Agricultural Bureau in Luoyuan County, Fujian Province, China)
