The cultivation technology of Pleurotus geesteranus

Season arrangement: Pleurotus geesteranus is generally cultivated in spring and autumn in accordance with actual climate conditions. In general, March to April is the optimal spring cultivation period while September to October is the optimal autumn cultivation period.
1. Compost formula: 
A. Cottonseed hull 93%, bran 5%, sugar 1%, light calcium carbonate 1%.
B. Broad-leaved tree sawdust 74.7%, bran 8%, corn powder 10%, gypsum 2%, bean powder 3%, sugar 1%, Monopotassium phosphate 0.2%, Magnesium sulfate 0.1%, lime 1%.
2. Bagging and spawn running: Mix materials thoroughly according to the formula proportion, adjust the water content in 60%-65%, choose polyethylene plastic bags that are 17*33*0.05cm or 20*35*0.05cm, then install materials with moderate degree of tightness, tie with strings and conduct atmospheric pressure sterilization for 14-16 hours. When the temperature has been cooled to 30 degrees, inoculate strain in aseptic condition. After that, remove the inoculated sacks into cultivation room so as to carry through spawn running management. During this period, it is necessary to check in every 7-10 days. When you find any sundry fungi, pick out at once so as to prevent its spread. In general, spawns become fully grown in about 30 days.
3. Fruiting management: In order to make spawns reach physical maturity, 3-5 days of cultivation period should be followed up when you find that spawns are fully-grown, accumulate nutrient and then transfer to fruiting place, under that circumstance, it is needful to spray water on surrounding walls to rise the inner humidity in 85%-95%, then strengthen the ventilation, widen temperature difference, enhance light intensity so as to make spawns twist together and form primordium. It is noteworthy that water spraying should be shunned during the formation period of mushroom buds. The primary work is to rise the inner air humidity of cultivation field. A small amount of water could be sprayed on largish mushroom bodies. Moreover, picking could be arranged when you find that caps have grown to 2-3cm, the edges present involute and spores are about to eject. After picking, clean up material surface in an attempt to prevent any rot or bacterial infection.
The whole growth period of Pleurotus geesteranus is about 3-4 months, primary output mainly concentrates on 1-3 flush. After you pick each flush of mushroom, it is imperative to cut off water supply for 2-3 days, then conduct normal management, the interval between each flush is normally kept for 8-12 days.
