The cultivation technology of Coprinus comatus

Coprinus comatus doubles as Shaggy cap, it is a kind of medium-temperature, constant-temperature and large-sized edible mushroom, light stimulation is not needed during the growth period of sporocarps and the period of spawn running, it can be cultivated year-round in bomb shelter and cave. When spawns become fully-grown in fungus sacks, covering soil and fruiting can be omitted and the fruiting of greenhouse can be arranged in early spring while the sowing can be done in autumn.
1. Material preparation: Both agricultural residues and part of industrial waste materials can be taken as the raw materials of Coprinus comatus cultivation. The common formulas are: Cottonseed hull 90%, bran 6%, urea 0.5%, phosphatic fertilizer 1.5%, quick lime 2%. 
This formula could be applied in mature material cultivation. Another formula refers to corncob 70%, beanstalk 20%, bran 8%, quick lime 2%, wheat straw 48%, chicken manure 48%, gypsum powder 2% and quick lime 2%.
The compost of Coprinus comatus needs to be fermented and disposed, the fermentation time should be controlled in 5-9 days.
2. Material-spreading and sowing: Bag-removing and ridge arranging on fermentation compost and mature material.
3. Earthing and fruiting: Nutrient soil is optimal, 1% of quick lime should be added and the water content should be adjusted in about 25%.
4. Mushroom cultivation: During the fruiting period, water management should be conducted in line with the rule of “Less and frequent”. Relative air humidity of mushroom greenhouse should be raised to 85%-90%. Moreover, direct proportion of ventilation quantity and fruiting quantity should be controlled, strong wind on ridge should be particularly avoided for fear of affecting the color and quality of mushroom, certain scattered light is also needed during the growth period of sporocarps and it is optimal to keep it in 700-800 lux. The last important aspect is that mushroom bodies enjoy the most desirable growth trend in the temperature range of 16-22 degrees, hence should be properly controlled.
