Hairy Mould is a kind of common sundry fungus which makes troubles in the cultivation of Oyster, Shiitake and Straw mushroom, in the initial infection period, hoary spawns appear on the surface of compost, then occupy the whole space of mushrooms, in the later period, black conidium will form on the surface of spawns.
Hairy Mould is capable of existing and living on straws, composts and plant residues, after spores get matured, it spreads along with the air flow. Halfway sterilization on compost, inoculation room and lax sterile operation normally bring about Hairy Mould, the spores could germinate spawns on the surface of substrate under appropriate humidity and then spread quickly under the condition of high humidity and high temperature.
Control measures:
A. Improve the sanitation, keep clean of the cultivation room and the surrounding areas, timely dispose waste materials.
B. Clean, disinfect inoculation room and mushroom house in accordance with common regulations.
C. When making strains, operator must conduct thorough sterilization, handle gently when transporting bag-strain so as to prevent any cracks.
D. Moderately increase the PH Value of compost, adding 1%-3% of quick lime or spraying 2% of lime water could jointly inhibit the growth of sundry fungi.
When you find Hairy Mould on the compost of fungi bed, timely ventilate, dry and control the room temperature to a range of 20-22 degrees, you could continue to conduct normal management after finding that the growth of sundry fungi has been effectively inhibited.
