Sundry Fungi, Pests and Diseases are the three common diseases and pests on Shiitake cultivation, which directly affect the success of cultivation. Therefore, you could adhere to the policy of “Prevention first, integrate control.” Once you find diseases and pests, be sure to carefully analyze the cause, adopt control measures as early as possible, thoroughly and timely prevent them from spreading. It is worth mentioning that any chemicals like pesticide should be applied before mushrooms fruit or after you pick mushrooms, be sure not to directly spray chemicals on mushroom bodies or it may cause residual hazard and severely affect the health of human body.
Neurospora is soil microbe, it is easy to bud under the humidity of 22-30 degrees and spread quickly. Neurospora usually occurs during the inoculation and spawn running period and owns strong spreading capacity. It is common and initially presents white, then shapes like villi and turns from faint yellow to orange in powder particles.
Control methods: Firstly, strictly control pollution sources, choose raw materials which are fresh and free from mould. Tiny-hole bags are also optimal. In addition, remove the surrounding pollutants, add 50% of Carbendazim with the proportion of 0.1%-0.2% when mixing materials. Moreover, the sterilization of substrate should be thorough, when you inoculate, wipe bags with the mixture of carbendazim and ethyl alcohol so as to disinfect. Last, but not the least, the field of spawn running should be dry and clean while the ventilation should be enhanced, excessive amount of water-spraying should also be avoided during bag-removing and fruiting period.
Once finding strain contamination, eliminate it without hesitation. When you are convinced that the contamination comes from sticks, open bags, dissipate heat and scatter lime powder, meantime, smear diesel oil on the contaminated part. It is improper to randomly place the contaminated one, or it may cause whole contamination.
