Probable Reason 1: The compost has been stored too long in poor storage environment, which directly produced a large number of sundry fungi and resulted in spoilage after being soaked by rain and snow. In the meantime of disinfecting in the common oven, it is hard to achieve thorough disinfection, which eventually brings about a large amount of sundry fungi and rancid compost.
Solution: Be sure to store all the raw materials in appropriate condition where keeps out wind and rain. Compost should also be fresh and free from mould, what’s more, sterilization and disinfection should be thoroughly conducted.
Probable Reason 2: Excessive moisture when mixing materials and the insufficient oxygen in the inner materials make anaerobic germs and saccharomycetes seize the chance to reproduce, which directly generates degenerated or rotten compost.
Solution: Too high moisture content should be avoided when you prepare materials, in general, the moisture content of compost should be controlled under 65%.
Probable Reason 3: Sticks have been stored for too long after the disinfection. Some farmers fail to remove sticks out of the oven after the disinfection, which definitively results in this phenomenon. Disinfected sticks are easy to go bad or souring under the hyperthermal and anoxic conditions.
Solution: Be sure to remove sticks out of the oven 2 days after the disinfection and then inoculate as early as possible.
