Apple residues are rich in abundant nutrition and are good compost in mushroom cultivation, utilizing them to cultivate mushroom could not only keep the cost low and remain good taste, but also facilitate achieving high-yield and considerable benefits. In general, approximately each 100kg of mushroom could be produced by each 100kg of compost. The followings are the introductions on its cultivation technology:
1. Formula: 70% apple residues (dried powder), 15% sawdust, 13% bran and 2% lime.
2. Cultivation technology:
A. Compost preparation: mix well with apple residues, sawdust and bran on the basis of certain proportion, then add lime, mix well simultaneously to reach the PH Value of 6-6.5 and the water content of 60%-65% which accounting for the total weight of mixed material. As apple residues are acid, too low PH Value goes against to the growth of spawns.
B. Disinfection and inoculation: heat the prepared compost to 100 degrees and remain for 1-2 hours, disinfect and cool down to 27 degrees or so, then conduct inoculation. After that, cover plastic films and keep the distance of 10cm between each plastic film.
C. The temperature and humidity: remove inoculated and disinfected compost into cultivation room and keep the temperature of 20 degrees or so. After about 7 days, white spawns appear on the surface of compost, then after 10-15 days, spawns become fully-grown on the whole substrate and sporocarps begin to appear, on that occasion, uncover the plastic film and adjust the relative air humidity in about 90%.
D. Picking: from the time that sporocarps appear, the first flush of mushroom could be picked after repassing about one week. After the picking procedure, let them dry for 4 days under natural conditions. When people find that the picking portion has healed up, they could spray water, cover plastic film and push the second flushes of mushroom.
