Corncob is rich in abundant and comprehensive nutrition. It is analyzed that the crude protein content of corncob is 1.1%, crude fat is 0.6%, cruder fiber is 31.8%, soluble carbohydrates reaches up to 51.8%, with 0.4% of carbon, 0.25% of phosphorus and higher content of sugar. Therefore, it is undoubtedly the ideal raw material in mushroom production. The brief technical introductions are as follows.
1. Quality requirements: superior corncob is fully dried, yellowish white, fresh and free from mould.
2. Raw material handling: it is proper to smash by common feed grinder or wood slicing grinder, the bore diameter need to be enlarged by the frill with the diameter of 2cm and smashed corncob should be in soy bean size or broad bean size.
3. Strain selection: Through comparative and repeat tests, several Oyster mushroom strains such as Guoping One, Qingfeng One and Sanxia One are fit to be cultivated by corncob, which can create high yield and superior quality.
4. Compost formula: cob 71.85%, wheat bran 15 %, corn flour 5%, superphosphate 2%, gypsum powder 2%, lime powder 4%, 0.2% of carbendazim should be additionally added. The water content of substrate should be in 65% and the PH value should be in between 7 and 8.
