Bag cultivation of Shiitake is generally arranged in autumn cultivation, anti-season cultivation is applied in recent years in order to increase the utilization ratio of mushroom greenhouse and extend the time of supplying.
1. Time of cultivation: in cultivation of spring mushroom, people could cultivate strain in between the first ten days of January and the first ten days of February.
2. Selection of varieties: people could choose strain that belongs to Medium Higher Temperature Type, strives to extend the fruiting time to the first ten days and the middle ten days of July, strains that fit for the cultivation of basswood have late fruiting and cannot be used in spring cultivation.
3. Pay close attention to bag opening: people should open bag when they find that the temperature of fruiting has been reached, main appearances are that spawns are fully grown, fungus-buds are ridgy and secrete brown liquid, the occasion is earlier than autumn cultivation.
4. Prevent high temperature in middle and late period of spawn running: the respiration intensity of mycelium will increase in middle and late period of spawn running, the temperature of fungus will increase. On that occasion, people should ventilation and conduct thinning of fungus tubes to prevent hotness of interior and coldness of exterior. The phenomenon of premature senility and death of spawns will happen when the temperature in middle part of pile of fungus tubes is higher than usual.
5. Proper moisture management: about 1kg of water is needed in producing 1kg of fresh mushroom. In spring cultivation, fungus tubes are larger than those of autumn cultivation. After opening bag, moisture evaporates quickly. If the airtightness of fungus ridge is poor, it will takes only 2 or 3 days to cause severe water loss of fungus tubes, so, people can’t realize fruiting.
6. The protection of over-summering on fungus tubes: in spring cultivation, Shiitakes will stop fruiting along with the coming of summer high-temperature, but nutritional materials in tubes haven’t exhaust, so, people could adopt the method of “preserving tubes through summer” and arrange fruiting in autumn equinox. The specific method is to preserve in ditch through summer, people should firstly drain off excessive water in ditch, put fungus tubes into ditch after 2 to 3 days and array in accordance with the form of “#”, cover a layer of straw on top, cover 20cm thickness of dry ground. People could also stack up fungus tubes in shade place of the room, cover plastic film, press all around tightly and keep certain humidity in compost. After passing the season of high temperature and finding that temperature is stable under the upper limit of fruiting, people could arrange soaking and fruiting.
