The natural growth temperature of wild Drumstick mushroom is between 10 to 24 degrees. Normally, they get fruited between March and June, September and November. When adopting greenhouse cultivation, people can sow between October and next March and produce two times in a year.
1. Construction of mushroom greenhouse: wasteland, shade place can be used as the cultivation place, the construction is as same as vegetable greenhouse and each 500 kg of dry material needs an area of 30 square meters.
2. Production process: material preparation - fermentation and build - heap of compost - inoculation - spawn-running management - bed making and earthing - fruiting management - picking.
3. Preparation of compost: prepare 1000 kg of corncob, 1000kg of bran, 30 kg of soybean cake, 30 kg of lime, 30 kg of phosphate rock powder, 20 kg of gypsum. Firstly make fry mixing, then wet mixing, smash corncob before mixing, after prewetting, people can build heap in layers to make water content reach to 70%.
4. Fermentation: after prewetting, people can build heap of 1.5 meters in width, 0.6 meters in height and turning everyday. Before turning, people can spray little water. The temperature will rise to 60 to 80 degrees in the second day. Usually, the fermentation period is 5 to 10 days, raised material has white ray fungi, has no sour or ammoniacal odour, presents brown and has the smell of ferment material.
5. Bagging: people can put 5 layers of strain and 4 layers of material in each bag, firstly put 1 layer of material and then a layer of strain. People can break strain in walnut size and it is good not to completely break it. Finally seal with pin. People should also pay attention to the tightness when bagging and use 3 diameter of stick to punch in both sides after sealing both sides of bags.
6. Spawn-running management: the temperature in greenhouse is relatively high before October. On that occasion, people can place 1 layer of bags and leave a gap of 3 cm between each bag, the spawn-running can be finished in greenhouse. After October, people can place 3 layers. Place 4 or 5 layers after December, then form fungus wall and leave a gap of 10 cm between each row. People should also cover 10 to 20 depths of wheat straw on top of fungus wall, insert several thermometer in mushroom bags and record the temperature of every morning and night. During the spawn-running period, temperature should be kept in 20 to 30 degrees. It will bring the hazard of fungus burning when the temperature is higher than 35 degrees. When the temperature reaches 40 degrees and remain 2 hours, spawns will be burned to death. People can uncover the film and adjust ventilation opening to control the temperature of mushroom bags.
