Summer is the hardest time in the course of a year to cultivate edible mushroom, even in industrialized production, pollution is also the major performance. The differences between summer and other seasons are:
High temperature: in climatology sense, it can be regarded as summer when average temperature remains above 22 degrees for 5 consecutive days. High temperature is the biggest difference between other seasons.
High humidity: relative air humidity will be above 80 percent for long period of time in summer, but in some dry areas of the northern, relative air humidity will be low.
Biological features: in summer of the Northern Hemisphere, all kinds of creatures come to life and begin to their vigorous activities. For some oviparas, incubations become more easily, which will cause the pollution of edible fungus. Environmental features of edible fungus cultivation in summer are: High temperature, high humidity and active microorganism. Below are some important points.
1. Cultivation method: it is undoubted to adopt mature material cultivation in summer, especially for beginner. Apart from mature material cultivation, other cultivation methods such as raw material and fermented material, the treatment of medium is not aseptic, in the condition of summer, pollution will cause the failure of the cultivation.
2. Formula: in industrialized production of edible fungus, for some varieties, they have specialized formulas in summer, the adjustment range is not big. But for some small-scale cultivation, farmers should pay special attention to reduce the adding proportion of nutrient material and high nutrition will easily lead bacterial infection.
3. Mixing: when mixing material in summer, farmers should make intraday mixing and intraday bagging, or will cause the acidification of compost and bigger nutrient loss.
4. PH value: in summer, substrates are easy to become acidized, which leads the reducing of PH value, so when cultivating edible fungus in summer, farmers should pay attention to the additive amount of gypsum and lime.
5. Prompt bagging: after mixing, bagging should be finished in the shortest possible time.
6. Prompt sterilization: sterilization should be done as soon as possible after bagging, in airtight environment of fungus bags, substrate acidification is easy.
7. Inoculation method: inoculation in an open way should never be adopted. All varieties should adopt detailed inoculation.
8. Temperature of spawn running: in summer, farmers should find solutions to reduce the temperature of spawn running and keep it under 25 degrees. What’s more, farmers should determine the production reasonably, industrialized production should determine production in accordance with refrigeration cooling capacity.
9. Ventilation: farmers should pay attention to ventilation in cultivating room, keep the freshness of air, avoid high temperature, high humidity and poor ventilation.
10. Sterilization: farmers should prevent the happening of pollution ahead of time in summer.
