Why Straw mushrooms appear listless?

During the production of Straw mushroom, it is common to see dead young mushrooms, which results in serious damage in production. There are some reasons for the phenomenon.
1. Slightly acid substrate: Straw mushroom enjoys alkaline environment, acid environment is more suitable for the growth of sundry fungus such as green mold and yellow mold and result in deaths of Straw mushroom. So, when preparing substrate, farmers should increase PH value properly. After picking first batch of mushrooms, farmers can spray 1% of lime water or 5% of plant ash water to keep the PH value in about 8.
2. The temperature of substrate is a bit low or have temperature shock: Straw mushrooms are sensitive to temperature. In general, when the temperature of substrate is below 28 degrees, the growth of Straw mushrooms will be affected or even to death. When temperature changes a lot such as experiencing cold wave or typhoon struck, so the temperature will go down sharply and cause deaths of young mushrooms.
3. Improper water-use: Straw mushroom has a certain requirement for water temperature. In general, water temperature should be about the same as room temperature. In hot summer, if farmers spray deep well water of 20 degrees, it will result in deaths of young mushrooms. Therefore, water spraying should be done in the morning or in the evening, the appropriate water temperature is about 30 degrees. Farmers should also spray water in accordance with growth periods of sporocarp.
